8isenough: I am proud to be an America

I have always wanted a chance to go to “The Stadium of Fire” but as yet in my 34 years of life I have not had the opportunity. That is not entirely true, actually.  I have been to the stadium AFTER this grand event to help clean up the mess that was made.  At one time, BYU had an equestrian club that earned money cleaning the stadium after big events like this one. I picked up many discarded programs, half-filled soda cups, dirty diapers, panty-hose and other miscellaneous refuse.  I was amazed at the amount of garbage that people could generate. I was also amazed at what little trash actually ended up in the trash receptacles.  That WAS why I was there, though - to clean it up! It would definitely be grand to go to the stadium and only worry about cleaning up my own trash.
Yet, this time in my life makes it more difficult to go out and have fun.  I have eight kiddos now.  My last two are 16-month-old twins.  They were born 11 weeks early and spent 10 weeks in the NICU at UVRMC.  They are doing fabulously, but I am one busy woman!  So, even though I want to go, actually being able to go is another matter entirely.  And what a dilemma- who do I leave at home with only four tickets available?
It would be wonderful, though, to bask in the patriotic ambiance that is inherent at such an event. I feel such gratitude for the people that have sacrificed so much for this great country. I am grateful that God has blessed us with the opportunities freedom gives each of us.  Often when I recite the Pledge of Allegiance tears come to my eyes.  We are so blessed! I love this country.  I know we, as individuals, make this country what it is today.  I hope that my patriotism is transferred to my children so that they desire to continue to do the things necessary to keep our country great. It also would be incredible to be able to be in the same building as Glen Beck.  I think he is an amazing person, who loves this country almost as much as I do.  God bless the United States of America!
